Our principles
"Capoeira is for men, women, and children. The only ones who cannot learn are those who don't want to." — Mestre Pastinha
"Capoeira is for everyone." — Mestre Bimba
We envision a world in which the incredible potential of capoeira is realized for all. We want our work to actively contribute to this future.
On this journey, we have come to value:
- Empowering the individual practitioner
- Adapting to context while honoring the spirit and roots of capoeira
- Strong communities based on openness, trust, and accountability
- Seeking out and embracing complexity
These principles deeply inform our daily work as teachers. We invite you to ask questions and engage us in dialogue about them.
This manifesto was co-authored by Instrutor Ondinha (Berlin) and Professor Popô (Frankfurt am Main), based on decades of capoeira experience and friendship.
